Monaco. The big one. Every F1 driver dreams of taking the top spot at this magical track. Legends have raced and won here. Ayrton Senna, Graham Hill, Michael Schmacher. Max Verstappen wins once again in the principality, certifying himself as a Monaco great after his second win at the circuit dominating the whole race just like Saturday where he had a monstrous third sector, possibly one of the greatest third sectors ever seen at the track. This chart shows how Max Verstappen gained 0.243s on Alonso in Sector 3 which might seem quite small in real life, but in F1 terms this was a huge gain.
Alonso takes second place, getting his fifth podium and becoming the oldest podium finisher at the track in 50 years. Estaban Ocon gets his first podium at the track finishing in third place, an outstanding result for him and the Alpine team. Ferrari disappoint again and are falling behind in the constructors' standings. At almost 150 points behind Red Bull, their championship dreams have been crushed by this Red Bull dominance that will almost certainly result in a Constructors and Drivers Championship win for the team.
Overall, not the most interesting grand prix but that is the average story in Monaco. An unbelievable qualifying, arguably the best of the season, and a lackluster race on Sunday. This is mainly due to Monaco's narrow circuit design and lack of overtaking areas.
